Background&Purpose: Attention is a cognitive prerequisites in sports . The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of focusing attention on the acquisition and learning of girl students novice volleyball passess the claw and simple service in general physical education students.
Methodology: The statistical population of this study formed the general physical education students of semnan university that of which randomly were selected 36 subjects. After performing pre-test participants were divided into 2 groups of internal and external focus that was done through the instructional self talk phrases. The groups performed during the acquisition sessions after receiving the necessary training, each session 20 passess the claw and 10 simple service. Before performing the passes the claw and simple service, self talk group’s focus of internal attention repeated aloud voice to arrange the "stronger the claw" and “the pull back” phrases and self talk group’s focus of external attention, “target” word in both the skills. A week after the acquisition phase was performed retention delay and transfer tests.
Results: Using analysis of variance (2 × 6) with repeated measurement phase of the acquisition and the retention and transfer tests using t-test results showed effects of training sessions and focus of attention, the interaction sessions with focus too in none of the steps was not significant (p≥0.05).
Conclusion: trainers and training teachers spend more time teaching and repetition of their skills, just to the repetition of skills and instead of waiting of learning paying attention to the progress of students.
