Abstract

Background & Purpose: One of the indices of a university’s livelihood is its students’ health in all psychological, physical and sport aspects. Hence, this research was designed in order to evaluate the current status quo and present solutions for improving the health of students with an emphasis on sport activities.
Methodology: For the purposes of this study, a total of 505 out of 13290 students (289 female and 216 male) were selected based on the Morgan table and responded to a research-made questionnaire of 55 items. Its validity was confirmed by 20 sport management experts and general doctors, and its reliability was calculated to be 0.82 via the Alpha coefficient.
Results: The exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis showed that the seven components of physical health, sport and well-being, weight control and nutrition, disease prevention, psychological health, sociological health, and drug avoidance are the important reflectors of the students’ health system (RMSEA= 0.098, df= 6, λ2= 13.45, CFI= 0.93, NFI= 0.90). In this regard, the most important aspects of the students’ health system consisted of drug avoidance (r= .91, t= 3.57) and sociological health (r= .90, t= 3.40). Additionally, the findings revealed that female students reported significantly more weight control and nutrition score than male students (t= 2.61, df= 8, sig= .031).
Discussion and Conclusion: The student health system has a variety of aspects, which probably still deals with shortcomings in terms of notification and information transfer within sport settings. Although a portion of these problems is due to differences in the students’ lifestyles, strategic planning developments, especially in regard to public sports, can result in a more efficient system.
