Abstract

Background & Purpose: The purpose of this study was to review and compare the educational goals of sports sciences in Iranian universities and other universities based on the Shanghai ranking in 2018.

Methodology: The research method was comparative studies (Bereday model). The required information was collected through library documents, internet search, articles and academic websites. The educational objectives of the approved curriculum of sports sciences of Iranian universities and other top 100 universities (various universities in the field of sports) were examined in three components (basic competencies, abilities and capabilities and environmental factors).

Findings: The similarity of the academic goal is in the dimension of the main competencies in acquiring the range of theoretical knowledge and budgeting skills. The difference in purpose of this dimension was the purpose of objectivity. In terms of abilities and capabilities, certificates from sports science centers of the world's universities (universities, faculties, departments) are emphasized to one-year students, and in the environmental dimension, differences in focus in relation to different universities with different types of budget sports.

Conclusion: The educational goals in Iranian universities are similar in the development of knowledge and skills of sports sciences and the use of a wide range of knowledge, but the goals of the curriculum in the universities are based on more objectivity, job perspectives, and collaboration with other institutions. In this regard, it is suggested that the requirements of entrepreneurship be used so that with the enrichment of sports science, this field will move towards meeting the needs of society.
