Developing a model of strategies for increasing mobility and physical activity of elementary students of Hamadan province

Abstract

Evidence suggests that there is a prevalence of inactivity in elementary students. Therfore, The aim of this study was to developing a model of the strategies for increasing mobility and physical activity of elementary students of Hamadan province. Methodology was exploratory mixed method. For collecting data researchers referred to experts in the field of student sports in Hamadan province and they used in depth-interview. The data of 46 interviews were analyzed after coding. Then a questionnaire was designed according to the codes and validity and reliability were confirmed. 429 teachers were chosen through stratified random sampling and filled up the questionnaires. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics such as kolmogorov–Smirnov, Friedman, and Structural Equation Modeling. The data were analyzed using SPSS 26 and Smart PLS 3 software. 46 indicators, 17 concepts, and 6 categories were extracted through the open coding results. The results showed that components of sociocultural, complementary activities of the physical education program, improving quality and effectiveness of physical education, information and social media, facilities and equipment, consistent training and utilization of technology had a significant effect on increasing mobility and physical activity of elementary students of Hamadan province. The result of Friedman test showed that there are significant statistical differences among priorities of mobility and physical activity of elementary students of Hamadan province. Ultimately, managers and authorities of student sport of Hamadan province can utilize indicators, concepts, and categories that were identified and the strategies for increasing mobility and physical activity of elementary students of Hamadan province in this study for future planning.
