Need Assessment And Causes Of Nutritional Supplements Of Athletes In Bodybuilders And Weightlifting Ardabil Province

Abstract

The present study is a descriptive research that was conducted as a survey. In this study, both qualitative and quantitative strategies were used. The statistical population of this study includes all bodybuilding and weightlifting athletes in Ardabil province, which was selected using a sample Cochran formula to 385 people. Interviews Using purposive sampling with the participation of respondents, 11 people were selected from the champions of national and international competitions to achieve theoretical saturation. Then, the data were encoded using MAXQDA12 software and the codes were used for a researcher-made questionnaire. Findings of this study show that most of the supplements consumed by athletes in the study with 95% confidence are protein supplements, protein isolate, casein protein, egg white protein, soy protein, amino acids, branched-chain amino acids, among the needs of bodybuilders and weightlifters. Is from Ardabil province and the rest of the table supplements are not required. According to the results, there is a significant difference in the frequency of creatine supplementation between bodybuilding and weightlifting athletes in Ardabil province and the need for creatine supplementation in weightlifting athletes is more than bodybuilding athletes (P = 0.003). In other supplements, no significant difference was observed in the two disciplines (P. ≤ 0.05). The information obtained from this study shows that the total amount of food supplements needed by athletes is 973,449,400 Rials. The most important reasons for taking dietary supplements in the research athletes are increasing muscle volume, increasing muscle strength, muscle recovery, being an antioxidant, reducing fatigue, and burning fat, respectively.
