Abstract

The present study aims at analyze the factors affecting the pricing and value of soccer players. The method was analytically descriptive and applied from objective perspective which was conducted in the field. The statistical population of the study included all coaches, sports club managers, experts and official agents familiar with the field of transfer of football players from the Persian Gulf Premier League and the Azadegan League. After determining the sample size using the structural equation formula, 122 people were selected using the available sampling method. The measurement tools included a researcher-made questionnaire of which the validity and reliability was confirmed through taking the professors and experts (8 persons) opinions while reviewing closely the context and literature. In addition, other internal consistency indicators such as Composite reliability (CR), Average variance extracted (AVE), Maximum shared variance (MSV) and Average shared variance (ASV) were examined and confirmed. To analyse the data, descriptive statistics (mean, SD) and inferential statistical methods (Pearson correlation coefficient, exploratory factor analysis and second order confirmatory factor analysis) were used. Results showed that that the most important factors affecting the pricing and value of football players were player's performance, player's characteristics, player's popularity and social acceptability, and influential factors on the transfer market of players with load factors of 0.91, 0.84, 0.65, 0.75, respectively. In general, it can be concluded that due to the complexity and multifaceted nature of the price and value of football players, taking into account quantity variables such as player performance and characteristics cannot be a good criterion for determining it. Therefore, other qualitative variables such as the popularity of players and market factors and even the factors that create the price bubble should be identified by experts familiar with the field of transfer,
