The effect of eight weeks of Pilates exercise on Psychological preparation, passion and perceived stress of young girls during the coronavirus outbreak

Abstract

Background & Purpose: Today, with the sudden onset of the corona virus, the world is facing a different situation and people's lifestyles have changed. Physical activity at home can be a valuable tool for protecting your health from illness. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of eight weeks of Pilates exercise on Psychological preparation, passion, and perceived stress of young girls during the corona. Methodology: The present study was a semi-experimental study with a pre-test design and control group. The sample consisted of 50 girls who were selected by available sampling method and randomly divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental group practiced Pilates at home and the control group did not receive any intervention during this period. The dependent variables were measured using questionnaires of Psychological preparation, passion and stress perceived in the pre- and post-test stages in both groups. Data analysis was performed using 2×2 Mix ANOVA at a significance level of 0.05. Results: The results showed that physical activity during quarantine had a positive effect on girls' mental readiness, passion and perceived stress compared to the control group, 88% of changes in mental fitness, 96% of changes in desire and 98% of changes in perceived stress were affected by their physical activity. Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, it can be concluded that exercise improves mental fitness, enthusiasm and stress, and since physical activity is an important motivational force to overcome the disease, it is necessary to take the necessary measures to use it.
