Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of cognitive games on the working memory and mental rotation of skilled badminton teenage girls in Kermanshah. The statistical population of the present study was adolescent girls of skilled badminton players in Kermanshah. The sample of this study was 30 adolescent girls of skilled badminton players (performing blows with relative confidence they also had a history of participating in provincial competitions) aged 14-12 years who were selected in an accessible and purposeful manner. Subjects with an average weight of 44 kg and an average height of 150 cm were randomly divided into two groups (15 in the experimental group, 15 in the control group). The NB test was used and tested. Then, the experimental group practiced cognitive games that included 8 weeks and two sessions of 45 minutes per week. At the end, both groups participated in the post-test. Univariate analysis of covariance was used to compare pretest and posttest and research groups. In addition, Levin test was used to examine the homogeneity of variance and an independent t-test was used to compare demographic variables. The results showed that cognitive games reduced the time of mental rotation and also reduced the error in working memory. The results of the present study showed that the effect of cognitive games on mental rotation and working memory of skilled adolescent badminton girls was effective and useful. It is suggested that the possibility of similar research be done in combination with more experimental groups and with different interventions, in combination.
