Abstract

Background & Purpos: Most stages of children's development depend on visual perception skills, which play an important role in a child's cognitive and motor development. In this case, it has been shown that performing fine motor activities can help improve children's visual perception skills. The aim of the present study was the effect of sport stacking training on visual perception skills of elementary school children. Methodology: In this semi-experimental research, which was carried out with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group, 37 female students were selected from among girls with an age range of 9 to 11 years and divided into two experimental groups (n=18) and Control (n=19). The study included pre-test, intervention and post-test phases. In the pre-test phase, the participants took the Frostig visual perception test. The intervention phase was carried out in eight weeks and five consecutive sessions each week and each session lasted 30 minutes, and the participants performed the relevant training. But the control group was doing daily activities. After the intervention phase, the post-test phase was done like the pre-test phase. The data was analyzed by multivariate covariance analysis. Results: The results showed that eight weeks of sport stacking training have a significant effect on the visual perception skills of female students (P<0.05). The results indicated that as a result of the sport stacking training, hand-eye coordination skills, shape perception from the background, shape stability, position in space and spatial relationships of female students increased significantly (P<0.05). Conclusion: Based on the results of the present study, it is possible to improve the visual perception skills of female children by using sport stacking training.
