Abstract

Background&Purpose: A major interest in sports science is the creation of training programs to improve the performance of players. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of implementing game training in small-sided games on the tactical performance of players in the football.

Methodology: the current research strategy was semi-experimental with a pre-test and post-test design with two experimental groups without a control group, and the players were selected by purposive sampling. Twenty-four female amateur players in the age group of 11-17 years old were placed in two groups of 12 players. In the training sessions, the first group played with an equal number of players and the second group played with an unequal number of players on the field with dimensions (30 ×20). Training period the included 4 intervention sessions per week for three weeks (12 sessions in total), a competitive game was held every weekend, where the players' performance in 7 vs. 7 competitive games was analyzed. The investigated tactics were offensive tactics. The first phase started with an initial test (pre-test), then the training intervention using games in small fields started and ended with the final test (post-test). the data was processed using SPSS software.

Results: the scores of tactical indicators (micro level) in the groups increased from pre-test to post-test (measurement stages)., the average scores of tactical performance were higher in the group with an unequal number of players and they showed better performance than the group with equal number.

Conclusion: applying unequal changes in the number of teammates and opponents will leave a better tactical performance. Also, playing on small fields plays a significant role in improving the tactical performance of football players, and it is possible to use all kinds of manipulation of task constraints to transfer tactical skills to competitive football.
