Abstract
Background & Purpose: The profession of teachers is considered one of the most sensitive and responsible jobs in society, which has a lot of stress and work pressure, and therefore the mental health of teachers is very important. Therefore, the purpose of the present study was to investigate the impact of Role overload on the mental health of physical education teachers with the role of moderator of perceived social support.
Methodology: The method of the present research was a correlational application. The statistical population of this research was the physical education teachers of North Khorasan province in the academic year 2022-2023 (N=525). JPower software was used to obtain the sample size and 216 people were selected by available sampling method. The research tools in this study included the mental health questionnaire of Lutke et al. (2022), the Role overload questionnaire of Bacharach and Connelly (1990) and the perceived social support questionnaire of Gray et al. (2020). Raw data collected using structural equation modeling using PI software. L. S was analyzed.
Results: The research results showed that role overload has a negative and significant effect on the mental health of physical education teachers with a path coefficient (-0.63) and a significant value (8.21). Also, the results showed that perceived social support with path coefficient (-0.04) and significant value (0.94) does not moderate the relationship between Role overload and the mental health of physical education teachers.
Conclusion: It is suggested that the officials and decision-makers of the educational system redefine the role of physical education teachers, adjust their responsibilities and duties, and provide conditions and facilities to reduce the workload and burden of the role of physical education teachers and mental health of physical education teachers should be improved
