Determining the validity and reliability of the physical social anxiety questionnaire of Persian version in Iranian athletes

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine the adaptability, validity and reliability of Persian version of the Physical social anxiety in exercise questionnaire among athletes. 300 athletes with different levels of skill were selected from team and individual athletes. completed the Physical social anxiety in exercise questionnaire (Motl &Connery, 2000). The internal consistency of the Cronbach's alpha questionnaire for the reliability of the whole questionnaire was 0.728. Also, the reliability coefficient for the subscale of positive social physical anxiety was 0.639 and for the negative social and physical anxiety was 0.7944.

Results of confirmatory factorial analysis, showed that this questionnaire was supported the 12-item structural of the initial questionnaire, and confirm construct validity. Also, the reliability of Persian version of Physical social anxiety in exercise questionnaire was confirmed. Therefore, the Persian version of Physical social anxiety in exercise questionnaire has acceptable reliability and validity in Iranian athletes with different level of skills, and coaches, researchers and athletes can use this questionnaire.
