Application of GIS for Space Preparation of Sports Using Fuzzy AHP and Delphi Method (Case Study: City Sabzevar)
 Background & Purpose: Many cities of Iran which are now experiencing modernity suffer from inappropriate distribution of sports spaces in a way that there are some difficulties and problems in distribution proportionate to population, compatibility, accessibility, adaptability to other uses, ect. In regard to this problem, sabzevar city is not an exception. The present paper suggests a scientific method for space preparation of sports uses. To reach this goal, the researcher chose sabzevar city as a research area.
Methodology: Data modeling was done using Arc GIS software in which after space and descriptive data collection and determining indexes and standards of space location, a data base was made. Then a map was designed for each index and the maps taken together, a pattern was suggested to locate sports space of optimal uses across sabzevar city.
Results: The suggested pattern was presented considering such factors as accessibility, population density, closeness to major communication network, adaptability to other uses, being appropriate and proportionate to age group distribution. The research findings suggest that in areas of 500, 1000 and 2000 m proportionate to small, medium and large scales respectively, about 91/23 percent of population in large area 83/5 percent in medium area and 23/47 percent in small one were covered.
Discussion: Managers and planners can use modern scientific methods, the method used in this study, the construction, planning, monitoring and bookkeeping functions to help the sports space.
