Abstract

Objective: Objectives: As regards sports performances are done in the environment with different colors and that color effectiveness of the sport skills has accepted, the aim of present study was to evaluate the effect of colors on acquisition and learning of skill of throwing dart. Methodology: in this Quasi-Experimental study being conducted in an applied manner, from all the male students of Ferdowsi University who had all the study conditions, 72 ones were randomly selected, were given a pre-test, and then were randomly divided into 6 groups (four with blue, green, black and red background colors, one with favorite color and a control). Subsequently, the subjects started to practice throwing darts using their dominant ands during 6 sessions (each session with ten 10-trial blocks). At the end of training course (acquisition phase), an acquisition test was conducted, based on which the subjects performed 10 dart-throwing trials using their dominant ands. 48 hours after performing of the acquisition test, the retention test was done to the subjects. Data analysis was conducted using the K-S test, ANOVA with repeated measures, One-Way ANOVA and Tukey test. Results indicated that in both acquisition and learning stages, the groups who’d practiced with the favorite and blue colors reached significantly much better results than other groups. Conclusion: according to the results obtained from the study, it seems that color can be regarded as an environmental factor involved in the improvement or reduction of learning.
