Background & Purpose: Soccer refereeing is always one of the professions that imposes a lot of physical and mental pressure on referees and is usually accompanied by anxiety, stress and fatigue. The purpose of this study was to determine the Psychometric properties of the Persian version of burnout in referees.
Methodology: The original version of this scale has 15 questions in the form of three subscales of emotional exhaustion, a decrease in the value of sport and a sense of reduced performance. This scale has also been validated for Portugal soccer referees in the past. The questionnaire was distributed among 160 soccer referees aged 18 to 44 years after translating into Persian and validating for a small group. For estimating the validity of the questionnaire, exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory analysis were used. Cronbach's alpha method was used to estimate the reliability of this scale.
Results: The findings of the research confirmed the validity and reliability of the scale. In general, the referee's analysis scale with three factors explained 51.88% of the total variance of the questions. In relation to the internal consistency of the questions in each subscale, the reliability coefficient of emotional exhaustion was 0.74, the valuable reduction of the referees was 0.71 and the sense of reduction performance was 0.71. In terms of time reliability, the results also showed that the relationship between variables was statistically significant by using a re-test and calculating correlation coefficient.
Conclusion: It seems that the Radiac Smith's modified analysis questionnaire for Iranian referees with 11 items is a good tool for measuring the burnout in Iran's referee community.
